Electric Scooter Available in Chennai!

Idea:Electric Scooter/Bicycle is a reality in Chennai.
Execution: Sometime back I wrote about Electric Bike maker survival guide. When I went to a Motor Show at Chennai recently I came across an interesting company displaying electric scooters for sale. The bikes are called Petra and they are made by EPL Technologies Pvt Ltd( Ph +91-44-6453 3333) The bikes are pricey but it will fall whne there is enough demand( A scooty like version costs Rs 27,000 while a luna like version costs 22k and a electic bike like version costs 18K). If someone can bulk buy them, and make them available on short haul rent/lease, it will make them popular and because of the voluem effect bring down the prices and create a demand spiral.
Profit: Apart from attractive gains in running such an operation, the social goodwill earned will go a long way in boosting up the valuation of the leasing/operating company. With the economy very upbeat, I will not be surprised if someone is already thinking/executing this in stealth!

  2. Two days ago, I wrote an article about a report I had heard on the local radio, concerning the banning of electric bicycles and electric scooters. I was stunned to hear that our government was actually considering this sort of a ban because it reeked of tyranny. Well, I had more email shot to me about this subject than you could shake a stick at.

To read my initial report on this Click Here: Electric Bicycles and Electric Scooters

Several people had told me that they had heard similar reports about this and that the ban was actually going to be on the batteries themselves and not the ebikes. The idea was that the batteries were considered explosive and dangerous and if they were in the wrong hands, that they could be used for some nasty things.

I called the local news channel and scanned their Website and could find nothing on the report. The person at the news desk told me that sometimes on rare occasions they are told to run certain news items just to see what type of reaction it would get.(Of course this person demanded that I not say his name or the name of the radio station or he would just claim that I was an out right liar.) But, he at least told me that I had heard correctly, that he could not confirm the source of the report….At this time.

However, I received some very distressing email from several people. One of the emails I received was from a man that I will call “Mr.X” for now. He basically told me that I should shut up about the ban report and that he could make life miserable for me if I kept talking. I have been in the Internet business for years now and have never had a threat like this one, so, naturally I was shocked. I have since submitted the email to the proper authorities and will pursue this threat very seriously. The reason that I am taking this threat seriously is because he knew intimate details about my businesses and he said he worked with IRS on occasion.

I believe passionately in alternative fuel vehicles like electric bikes and electric scooters and I will do anything I can to promote their cause.

I am pursuing this issue with an investigation and will let you know more about this as time goes on.
